About BECF
We currently have several initiatives under way :
- Cleaning up our environment. We currently have seven full time employees cleaning up the public areas in our community. This includes the river area, the parks and the streets as well. The cleaning team removes hundreds of bags of refuse monthly, but this is unfortunately a never-ending project.
- Actively working with the SAPS, health and building inspectors to reduce the number of builders and their assistants who are “living” in the area. If you have a problem in your area, please contact the community office on 463-6066.
- There are a large number of streets in Bryanston which do not have street lights. Realistically the municipality will not get to our area for many years to come, and nearly all the street lights in our area have been paid for by the residents. BECF will happily coordinate a street light project in your street, but cannot pay for it. If you wish to know more, please contact the community office.
- BECF runs a Domestic Watch Programme in the area. A total of 68 meetings will be held in 2011 and we expect more than 600 domestics and gardeners to attend.
- From time to time the BECF team fixes potholes in the area. This is usually done when JRA does not get round to fixing all logged potholes.
- Our biggest initiative is the community security project with ADT Security. This is based on a service level agreement signed with ADT Agreement (File Size: 50 KB's). In terms of this agreement the security company provides the residents with all the normal security functions that we as a community require i.e. armed response, bobby on the beat, road closure guards etc. This is governed by a service level agreement i.e. if they do not meet their commitments we as a community will be able to impose financial penalties to sharpen their minds.
This agreement covers both normal armed response and static guards such as road closures. The key in the process is that the perfomance of ADT is monitored by BECF on behalf of the residents. They are several key factors :
-
The ratio of clients to a vehicle in the area cannot exceed 200. Most security companies are currently double this.
-
The vehicles have to patrol at least 50% of their time and have to be proactive i.e. they cannot simply respond. We currently have 5 dedicated ADT vehicles in the area.
